The Majestic Metro was designed and built in 1926, by famed Houston architect William Ward Watkin. Mr. Watkin's numerous nationally recognized projects include the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the Houston Public Library, Rice University, and the home of Howard Hughes. The preservation and restoration of The Majestic Metro in 1990 was awarded by Preservation Houston the "Good Brick Award" to recognize its outstanding contributions to the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of Houston's architectural and cultural heritage.
